wikiHow Ideas

People in this world devote their lives simply to teaching others and they make a career out of doing just that. Very often however, the best teachers in life are the do-ers, those right in front of us in everyday life who know from experience. This is why and how wikiHow was created; to teach people how to accomplish tasks from knowing specifically how to do certain things from having already done them. There are many good ideas already on the site but here are three more that could be added to teach those who do not know the art of these things already.

The Buffalo Sabres hockey team is known every year for having generally low ticket prices compared to many other teams in the National Hockey League. According to the NHL Fan Cost Index, the Sabres are ranked 22nd in average ticket prices meaning there are only eight cities that have generally cheaper tickets for their games. The average ticket price for a Sabres game according to this site is $47.94. Interested in going to a game for significantly less money than that? A wikiHow page can explain a step-by-step process that will explain just how to do that.

Rising in popularity over the past year or so has been the use of daily fantasy sports through sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel. The sites require a minimum deposit of $25 when an account is created all of which stays with you and can be used to enter contests to create lineups. What happens to most folks is the constant loss of money with lineups that never work out. Most people struggle with acquiring money on these sites, which is where the wikiHow page comes in. The winning formula is very simple and can help those who constantly lose to watch the money in their account grow.

Gas prices are continuously fluctuating in Western New York driving people crazy (no pun intended). There are deals out there, people just need to know where, how and by what means to look. There is a very simple way to save money on gas not just once, but over time through this very simple process. Gas takes a lot of money out of the wallets of those who are constantly in and out of their cars. Gradually saving small amounts of money could make the biggest difference.

All of these things are easier than they appear. The people of the world truly are the best teachers and there is so much to be learned. It is impossible for someone to know how to do everything which is why wikiHow was created. The site continuously adds steps for how to accomplish basic things that could change someone's day, or even change someone's life.

Is the Price of Privacy the Right to Information?

Social media has changed drastically since I created my first Facebook account back in 2010. At the time, Facebook seemed to rule the worldwide web; if you were in high school and didn't have an account, you simply weren't cool. Social media has come a long way since then, mostly with Twitter and Instagram making their mark on the online industry. Social media has only grown since it emerged and will likely continue to do so. Any major story in the news now breaks on Twitter, mostly because this is the fastest form of getting news to the public. Social media has changed people's lives, whether for better or worse, but will continue to change the way we live ours.

Social media can be very intrusive, and in many different forms. People who live lives in the public eye have less privacy due to social media when personal aspects of their lives are shared with the public, such as a picture of them being taken at a restaurant and posted to Twitter or what have you. Whether you live in the public eye or not however, social media can be very intrusive. If there is a responsibility to using social media, it is an unwritten code followed by few.

Social media, while it has a negative connotation to many people, can also be the cause of something positive. When I was in high school, I had a professor who had a long-lost relative who he was able to get in touch with via Facebook. The two (I believe they were cousins) began "chatting" on the site and decided to reunite. They each brought their respective families and met up at a halfway point between where they each lived. The two families met for the first time while cousin was reunited with cousin after not having seen or heard from one another in over thirty years. None of this would have happened if the one had not found the other on Facebook and thus gives us a prime example of a positive outcome from social media.

Social media has already had such an impact on the recent past and will likely change the future entirely. Any sort of company or corporation nowadays is linked in to Twitter or Facebook and likely some other social networking sites as well, so as to stay relevant and communicate with the public. These sites help keep the world connected to the people who live in it, whether it's the news of late rockstar David Bowie passing away and the word spreading like wildfire over Twitter, or the knowledge of the possibility of NASA discovering what could be a ninth planet in our solar system.

The future is something no one can predict, but if anything was certain, it's that social media will continue to grow and change the way people receive and spread information. These sites help people who live thousands of miles away interact as if they are in the same room; through communication.
